About Me
I'm Matteo Farahani — a systems-minded generalist with a background in engineering, business, and self-directed learning.
I began my career in industrial sales after completing a mechanical engineering degree and an MBA. But very early on, I realized I wasn't just interested in selling — I was drawn to how organizations function behind the scenes: their systems, operations, and inner logic.
In 2016, I co-founded Ostadbank, an online private tutoring platform that connected thousands of students across Iran with qualified teachers. I led its operations and systems design — building low-cost, high-efficiency processes that enabled the company to scale sustainably, even with limited resources.
Later, I moved to the Netherlands under a startup visa to explore international expansion. The journey wasn't easy. Competing with well-funded global players taught me a lot about strategy, adaptability, and the real cost of under-structured growth.
Today, we continue to evolve — serving Iranian learners abroad while experimenting with new models.
What I Do
These days, I focus on designing operational systems — whether for businesses or for life. My professional strengths lie in:
Operations Design
Designing scalable, efficient, low-cost operations
Process Design
Turning fuzzy processes into structured, measurable workflows
First Principles
Building from first principles instead of copying what's trending
I believe good systems make good decisions easier — and that applies as much to teams as it does to individuals.
What I Care About
Beyond work, I'm deeply interested in self-development, health, and intentional living. I'm an early riser, a home workout enthusiast, and someone who likes to think with pen and paper before acting.
Every morning, I follow a simple ritual: wake up early, wash with cold water, pray, exercise, read for 20 minutes, listen to audio in a new language (like Dutch), and write out my daily strategy. This isn't about discipline — it's about clarity.
I read a lot — especially about management, strategy, systems thinking, and long-term personal growth. Writing on this site is how I reflect on those ideas and try to sharpen them.
Why This Website?
This site is not a business. I don't sell anything here. It's a space for slow thinking, deep learning, and quiet experimentation. If you find something that resonates, I'd love to hear from you.
